Women's Results Men's Results
The Malone University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Div. I Bowling Green State University Invitational on Saturday. The Pioneer women, ranked fifth in the NAIA, won the meet among 17 teams while the men's squad, ranked third in the NAIA, took fourth among a 16-team field.
The Malone women tallied 57 points for their team title as Kent State University was second with 66 points. Ashland University was third with 84 points, Bowling Green State took fourth with 94 points and Cedarville University rounded out the top five with 147 points.
On the men's side, the University of Windsor (Can.) won the team championship with 47 points as Kent State placed runner-up with 54 points, Miami (OH) University was third at 55, Malone finished fourth with 110 and Ashland rounded out the top five with 160 points.
For the Pioneer women,
Tynae Wilson (Jr., Fort Wayne, IN) led the squad by finishing second overall among over 175 runners in a time of 21:54.4 over the 6K course.
Ashton Avery (Jr., McKinley H.S.) was close behind in seventh (22:14.2) while
Kristen Downing (Sr., Lake H.S.) took 13
th (22:25.4). Also scoring for Malone were
Gabrielle Wuensch (Jr., New London H.S.) in 16
th (22:29.5) and
Lindsey Pifher (Sr., Colonel Crawford H.S.) in 19
th (22:39.4). Brynn Chaskel (So., Liberty Benton H.S.) was sixth for Malone and 33
rd overall (22:54.2) while Danielle Wuensch (Jr., New London H.S.) was seventh for the team and 37
th overall (22:59.2).
Other runners for the women's squad included Erin Bauer (Jr., Loveland H.S.) in 23:01.2, Emily Tomei (Fr., St. Vincent-St. Mary H.S.) in 23:03.3, Hannah Hartzler (So., Norwayne H.S.) in 23:17.0, Tina Oprean (Fr., Canton Central Catholic H.S.) in 23:28.4, Jessica Winkler (So., Norwayne H.S.) in 23:33.0, Katie King (Fr., Bellefontaine H.S.) in 24:02.3, Emily Grad (Sr., Field H.S.) in 24:07.7, Caitlin Sharp (Jr., East Canton H.S.) in 24:08.2, Allison Black (Jr., Norwich, CT) in 24:14.5, Becky Neitzel (Jr., Malvern H.S.) in 24:23.3, Bethany Flage (Fr., Elmwood H.S.) in 25:01.1, Rachel Carter (So., Southfield, MI) in 25:07.2, Kayleigh Bildstein (Jr., Madison H.S.) and Paige Nagy (So., Rocky River H.S.) in 26:13.3.
For the Malone men,
James Zeuch (Sr., Galion H.S.) paced the team by finishing second overall among nearly 200 runners in a time of 24:44.4 over the 8K course.
Nick Meeson (So., Lakewood H.S.) was second for the team and 20
th overall in 25:30.0. Also scoring for the squad were
Tony Migliozzi (Jr., St. Thomas Aquinas H.S.) in 24
th (25:35.3),
Jarod Williams (So., Louisville H.S.) in 31
st (25:46.5) and
Jeremy Arthur (Jr., Medina H.S.) in 33
rd (25:55.0). Jordan McKelley (Fr., St. Thomas Aquinas H.S.) was sixth for the team and 39
th overall (26:05.3) while
Nick Fresenko (Fr., Louisville H.S.) placed seventh for the squad and 43
rd overall (26:14.5).
Other competitors for the men's team included Mitch Williams (So., Celina H.S.) in 27:02.2, Aaron Melhorn (Sr., Fairless H.S.) in 27:15.1, Cory Dotts (Fr., Claymont H.S.) in 27:17.4, Kyle Randolph (Sr., Galion H.S.) in 27:18.0, Jed Neer (Fr., Northmor H.S.) in 27:26.3, Jarrod Zollars (Fr., West Holmes H.S.) in 27:29.0 and Bryan Eckenfels (Sr., Northwestern H.S.) in 28:43.3.
The Malone teams will next compete at the Malone/Walsh Classic in North Canton, Ohio next Saturday (October 23rd) at 11:45 a.m.
