Malone University Athletics

Malone University and Director of Athletics Tanya Hockman have announced the hiring of Matthew Kennell as the Sports Information Director as of July 2024.
 
Kennell is a 2019 graduate from Malone with degrees in Business Administration and Sport Management. He returned as a Graduate Assistant for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons in the Sports Information Department.
 
After graduating with a Master's in Business Administration in 2021, he joined the athletic department at Trine University in Angola, Indiana. Kennell began as Assistant Sports Information Director and transitioned into the role of Sports Information Director in the summer of 2023.
 
While at Trine, he was in charge of statistics and recordkeeping, and worked closely with local media members in Fort Wayne, South Bend, Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Kennell was the primary sport contact for 16 teams and played a role in each of the school's 37 athletic programs at the time. The Trine's softball team won the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship as well as the men's basketball squad in the 2023-24 school year.
