Leyna Heather was hired as a Graduate Assistant in Sports Information in August of 2024.
"We are excited to have Leyna come on board as a part of our staff here at Malone," Sports Information Director
Matthew Kennell said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge in a variety of aspects of sport that well help our department immensely."
Heather graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mount Union in May 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Business and minors in Coaching and Entrepreneurship. While at Mount Union, she has completed internships within athletic offices, including sports information, gameday operations, and coaching.
She was to film, stat, and update social media during events at Mount Union. At Alliance High School Heather scheduled events, worked with ticket sales and fundraising, updated their athletic website, and much more. This is where she gained much experience with the behind the scene of athletics. Her coaching experience comes from Marlington High School where she helped with the boy's tennis team.
She says, "After being in athletics almost my entire life I am excited to gain more knowledge and love for athletics while working inside the Athletic Office here at Malone."
