Rafael Gonzalez has been the head volleyball coach at Malone University since the summer of 2021.
He was hired on an interim basis to replace long-time head coach Tanya Hockman after she was appointed the University's director of athletics in April of 2021.
In December of 2021, the interim tag was dropped from his title and Gonzalez was named the program's head coach.

Assistant Coach at Malone University
Gonzalez served as an assistant coach on Tanya Hockman's staff for 19 seasons.
Rafael joined the Malone volleyball family as an assistant prior to the 1999 season. He served on the staff from 1999-2010. After rejoining the staff in 2013, he was promoted to associate head coach in 2018.
Education
A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Rafael holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Management Information Systems.
Playing Career
In addition to his coaching, Gonzalez has extensive volleyball experience on the court, having played for three years in high school and four years in college. He also has two years of professional playing experience to his credit.
Personal
He and his wife, Dinah, a Malone College graduate (1992) and a member of the Malone Athletics Hall of Fame, and their daughter, Gabriella, reside in Canton.
