Jonna Handra returns for her third year as an assistant coach for the Pioneer women’s soccer team.
The Pittsburgh native boasts an impressive resume as a player. At South Allegheny High School, Handra racked up 178 career goals, placing her third all-time in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) record books. She won four state championships at the club level in Pennsylvania and was named to the regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) team in 2002 and the national ODP team in 2004.
Handra continued her torrid play at the collegiate level, playing four seasons for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As a freshman, she was named to the Atlantic-10 Rookie Team, ending the year with 19 points. Her junior year, Handra was named to the A-10 Honorable Mention Team. She captained the 49ers in her final season, where she was named to the A-10 all-conference team and the Top Drawer Soccer Top 20 for her conference.
Handra graduated from UNCC with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. She will wrap up her master’s degree in Clinical Counseling at Malone this fall.
