    Assistant Coach
Kyle Higgins, a member of the Malone University men’s basketball team during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, begins his second season on the Pioneer coaching staff this fall as an assistant for both the varsity and junior varsity squads.

After transferring from Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University, Higgins immediately became a key contributor for the Pioneers, averaging 9.8 points per game and shooting over 41% from beyond the three-point arc during his two-year Malone playing career.

A two-time NCCAA East Region Third Team selection, Higgins was also tabbed All-AMC (American Mideast Conference) Honorable Mention following the 2009-2010 campaign.

Higgins was as equally impressive in the classroom as he was on the court, earning the NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete distinction following his senior year.  In recognition of his academics, athletic accomplishments and service in the community, Higgins also received the AMC’s 2011 Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award.

Higgins, a native of Columbus Ohio, earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Malone and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Education from the institution.  Since earning his undergraduate degree, he has also spent time interning at Parkside Church in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Coach Walker was excited to have Higgins join his staff upon his arrival prior to last season.  “Kyle Higgins is one of the great stories of Malone Basketball during my time,” commented Walker.  “He was a key part of laying the foundation during my first two years at Malone, and it has been a privilege to watch him grow over the last few years.  I am thrilled that he has joined our staff and that he will continue to have a great impact on our program in his new role.”
