Steve Kelly, originally of Cincinnati, Ohio, wrapped up his first season on the Malone University baseball coaching staff in 2010 as the team’s pitching coach. Steve graduated from Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Ohio and attended Georgia Tech University where he pitched for three years (1999-2001).
The 6’1” right-hander was initially drafted in the fifth round of the amateur entry draft in 1998 by the Chicago White Sox but decided not to play professionally at the time, instead continuing his education at Georgia Tech. In 2001, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the fourth round (126th overall).
Kelly’s accolades include being named the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior in high school. He played professional baseball for eight years and his pitching experience is a tremendous benefit the Pioneer team and coaching staff.
