Anthony Barson completed his second year as a Graduate Assistant, having worked with Coach Kelly and the pitching staff. Anthony played for the Pioneers from 2003-2006. As a part of Malone’s 2006 NCCAA National Championship Team, he compiled a 7-2 record along with 10 saves and a 1.55 ERA. In 52.1 innings, he struck out 64 batters and held opposing hitters to a .194 average. He collected numerous postseason awards following his outstanding 2006 campaign, including NAIA & NCCAA All-America honors in addition to being named both the NCCAA National Pitcher of the Year and AMC North Pitcher of the Year.
In 2007 and 2008, Anthony worked as an operations assistant with the Milwaukee Brewers. He interned in 2007 with their Arizona Rookie Ball team and then, in 2008, worked with their Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds. Anthony graduated from the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau Scout Development Program in October of 2008 in Mesa, Arizona. He concluded his undergraduate studies at Malone in 2007, earning a B.A. in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. Anthony resides in Canton and is currently in his final year of graduate school where he is pursuing a Master's degree in Business Administration.
