Lucas Daugherty enters his first season on the Pioneer coaching staff after wrapping up a fantastic playing career at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  Daugherty was named the Crossroads League Pitcher of the Year as a senior and earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American Honors. The hard-throwing righty finished 8-2 with a 1.38 ERA which ranked 2nd in the NAIA. He struck out 105 batters in 97.2 innings.

Over his four seasons at MVNU, Daugherty totaled 286 strikeouts in 294.1 innings. He ended his fine career with an impressive 32-6 record and a 2.11 ERA.

Lucas graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene in 2016 with a degree in Environmental Science.
