Doug Sanders enters his first season on the Malone University baseball staff, serving as the team’s infield coach. 

Sanders comes to Malone after completing three years as an assistant coach at Kent State University where he helped guide the Golden Flashes during their memorable run to the 2012 College World Series. 

After excelling for two years on the baseball diamond at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois, Sanders transferred to Kent State where he became a two-year starter at second base, playing a key part in the Golden Flashes’ Mid-American Conference Championships in both 2007 & 2008.  During his senior year, he led KSU in hits and batting average and was named to the 2008 MAC All-Tournament Team.

Since graduating from Kent State in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sanders has continued his playing career in the Frontier and Golden Leagues, earning All-Star recognition and a Frontier League Championship with the River City Rascals in 2010.
