GREENVILLE, S.C. -
Fletcher Cravens of the Malone University men's golf team has been selected as the NCCAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week presented by Athletic Solutions. It is his first career athlete of the week award and the first for Malone men's golf since
Zehnder Gibson in the fall of 2024.
Â
Cravens, a sophomore from Frisco, Texas, put together a phenomenal tournament for the Pioneers where he was the individual medalist at the Malone Fall Classic. On Friday at Tannenhauf Golf Club, Cravens put up the lowest round of the event with a 68 and followed that up with a 70 on day two for a two-round total of 138. The 6-under scorecard featured ten birdies, five on each day. In round one, Cravens was 3-under on the back nine and went under-par on three of the four par-5 holes.
Â
He led the team to victory by 27 strokes over second-place Wheaton College. Malone finished the tournament at 10-under with a two-day score of 566 (282-284). It is the second-lowest round in the program's NCAA DII era.
Â
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, September 12 for the Mount Union Fall Invitational, once again at Tannenhauf Golf Club.
