Eckstein Paces Pioneers at Crossroads Cup

NASHPORT, Ohio - Day one of the Crossroads Cup saw the Malone University men's golf team in a tie for 11th through 36 holes at The Virtues Golf Club. The Pioneers hit 624 (314-310) over the first two rounds on Monday. The host institution, the Ashland University Eagles, are atop the leaderboard at 576 (289-287).
 
Alexander Eckstein leads the way for Malone with a 151 (78-73). After 13 pars in round one, the freshman navigated the course well in round two with three birdies on his scorecard. He is tied for 26th overall. Carter Miller brought in the most birdies with seven, but an up-and-down day saw him finish at 156 (77-79).
 
Brady Johnson went even-par on the front nine in round one and concluded the day at 158 (80-78). He tallied four birdies on the day, two in each round. Jaxon Rinkes was one stroke back of his teammate at 159 (79-80). He showed consistency throughout his 36 holes and notched one birdie in each round. Fletcher Cravens was the member of the squad at 164 (83-81). He had one birdie in the second round.
 
The third round of the Crossroads Cup will be contested on Tuesday, September 29.
