ERIE, Pa. - The Malone University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational on Monday morning and placed third among seven squads in attendance. The Pioneers had team scores of 295, 298 and 290 in 54 holes to finish the tournament at 883 (+19). The University of Massachusetts Amhurst won the team championship at 871.
 
Fletcher Cravens and Alexander Eckstein led the team with dueling 218's. Cravens (72-75-71) went 1-under in the final round with three birdies and finished the tournament with seven. Eckstein (72-74-72) totaled six birdies, three of which came in the first round. The two tied for seventh-place.
 
Carter Miller tied for 19th with teammate and individual competitor Jaxon Rinkes at 226. Miller (79-75-72) improved the more he was able to see the course with four of his seven birdies coming in the third round. Rinkes (78-71-77) had a strong second round with four birdies and finished the event with eight.
 
Brady Johnson had a stand-out first round of 73 en route to tie for 24th overall at 227 (73-78-76). Johnson had six birdies on his scorecard, half of which came in round one. Deagan Beaber finished at 227 (78-74-75) with the same number of birdies.
 
The next tournament for the Pioneers is the Walsh Fall Invitational at nearby Glenmoor Country Club on Thursday, September 24.
