TIFFIN, Ohio - The Malone University softball team was defeated by Tiffin University on Monday afternoon 2-1 in game one and 7-0 in game two in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. The Pioneers see their eight-game win streak snapped and fall to 18-8 and 5-3 in the league. Tiffin is now 19-9 and 9-1 in the G-MAC.

GAME ONE RECAP:
Both sides were scoreless through the first four innings of play, with neither side able to advance a runner to third until the bottom of the fourth.
Mia Rose was able to get out of the jam with a flyout to right to leave the Dragon baserunner stranded 60 feet from home.

A two-out walk to
Halyn Cawthorne set the table for
Marlee Pireu to drive in a run with a double to claim a 1-0 lead. Rose twirled a 1-2-3 inning in the fifth, but in the sixth, Tiffin was able to get in front. Three straight hits and a wild pitch plated two for the Dragons to make it 2-1.

Amber Miller drew a walk in the final times at-bat for the Pioneers, but as the game-tying run, she was left stranded in the loss. At the plate, Pireu and Cawthorne had the team's only hits and the latter reached base twice with a walk as well. Rose (10-4) struck out three in a complete game effort in the circle.

GAME TWO RECAP:
The Malone offense was restrained to just one hit in the second game and ultimately fell by a score of 7-0. Tiffin plated an unearned run in the first with an RBI triple and a solo homerun made it 2-0 in the second inning.

Summer McCaw was able to cool the Dragon bats for a short time, but in the fifth, Tiffin unloaded for five runs on seven hits to expand their lead to 7-0.
Masyn Baker entered the game to pitch in the sixth and two strikeouts with runners in scoring position kept the score where it was.

A leadoff walk by
Morgan Cantrell and a stolen base failed to produce a run and the Pioneers were shutout in the second game of the day. Cantrell also was credited with the only hit in game two. McCaw (4-2) and Baker each struck out two batters and five of the seven runs on McCaw's ledger were earned.
