HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Malone University track & field team had several top performances at the highly competitive VertKlasse Meeting at NCAA Division I High Point University.
 
In the 10,000-meter run, Malone's Carolyn Miller scored a fourth-place finish at 42:45.37. The men's race saw three student-athletes in the top eight for the team. Alex Hill was sixth (33:12.72), Zach Bugner seventh (33:26.22) and Dillon Royster eighth (33:43.98).
 
Yahya Jawadi competed for Malone in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He was seventh overall with a time of 9:47.01. The Pioneers posted a pair of top-20 finishes in the men's and women's 5000-meter run. Rachel Whetstone was 18th (18:49.69) and Caden LaRue finished 20th (15:38.74).
 
Day one of field events saw Gavin Tribelo score a 17th-place finish in the open hammer throw event. His best toss was 44.07 meters (144' 7.00"). In group one of the men's high jump, Brandon Gross is 19th at 1.67 meters (5' 5.75").
 
The VertKlasse Meeting continues on Friday, April 3 for the second and final day of competition.
