AKRON, Ohio – The Malone University played a non-conference game against Clarion University at 7 17 Credit Union Park, home of the Akron RubberDucks. The Pioneers lost 15-3 in seven innings and are now 19-21 overall. The Golden Eagles now hold an 18-20 overall record.
Clarion took a lead early on scoring four in the top of the first inning after a single and homerun. The Golden Eagles added another run in the top of the third to make it 5-0. Malone was able to get three in the bottom of the third.
Colin Coblentz,
Doran Mast, and
Shane Coblentz were all walked. A single from
Reilly Tyna gave the Pioneers their first then a sacrifice fly from
Zach Root made it 5-2.

Clarion continued to extend their lead to 8-3 in the top of the fourth. The Pioneers stranded two in the bottom of the fourth. Six hits, including a three-run homerun, from the Golden Eagles brought them to a secure 15-3 lead in the top of the sixth.
Ben France stepped in to pitch in the top of the seventh and struck out the side.
Colin Coblentz laced a double for the team's lone extra-base hit in the bottom of the seventh, but was left on base in the 15-3 loss.
Colin Coblentz and
Ethan Petak were each 1-for-2 at the plate. An abundance of pitchers threw for Malone, but
Tate Aljancic (0-1) took the loss. France's three K's led the team.
Up next, the Pioneers travel to Thomas More University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) doubleheader. First pitch will be thrown at 12:00 P.M.
