CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University men's lacrosse team lost on Senior Day to the Lake Erie College Storm 14-11. Prior to the start of the game,

Nate Wilson and
Cody Borgert were honored for their contributions to the program.

The Pioneers fall to 1-13 on the year while the Storm improve to 2-10. In the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Malone drops to 1-8, and the Storm move to 2-6.Â

The first quarter started in Lake Erie's hands as they went on a 6-0 goal run with 18 seconds left in the period. At the last second of the quarter,
Ramsey Burnard ended the Pioneers' drought to make the score 6-1. Malone struggled with possession in the period, recording seven turnovers in the first.Â

Jackson Lintner got the Pioneers going in the second quarter, with a goal at 11:42, and
John Mautz III added to the scoring with an isolation goal to make the score 6-3. The Storm continued their offensive pressure, but Smith managed to sneak a goal on Lake Erie to make the score 10-4 going into the half.Â

In the third period, Malone found the spark off a goal by
Liam Sullivan, assisted by Burnard with 8:42 to go. Not long after, Lintner scored his second goal of the day from a pass by Sullivan to make the score 11-6.
Dominic Robbins netted a goal off a pass by
Quincy Dumarce and later in the period, with Smith following it up with another goal to make the score 11-8 at 4:17. Seven of the Pioneers' 13 shots in the third were on-goal.Â

Malone found themselves down 14-8 at 5:11 in the fourth, but kept the pressure on as Mautz III scored his second goal from a pass by Burnard at 4:01. At 3:07, Sullivan scored on a man-up opportunity off of a pass by Robbins to cut the Storm's lead to 14-10. Burnard gave the Pioneers another goal with 31 seconds remaining in the game, but the Pioneers were unable to complete a comeback as they were defeated 14-11 at the final whistle.Â

The Pioneers had Mautz III, Burnard, Lintner, Smith, and Sullivan with two goals each, followed by Robbins with one goal.
Ty McCort led Malone at the faceoff X, recording a 70% (19-for-27) win rate on the line.
Goalkeeper
Zach Johnson (0-6) recorded his sixth start for the Pioneers, recording a 52% (11-for-21) between the Pipes.
Andy Lopez took over in the second half, recording a 55% (5-for-9) save percentage in the crease.
The Malone University men's lacrosse team will finish its season on the road as they travel to Wheeling University on April 15 at 4:00 P.M for their last Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup.
