PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Malone University men's lacrosse team lost its first conference match of the season to Point Park University, 11-9. The Pioneers now fall to 0-3 on the season while Point Park improves to 1-1. In the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Malone drops to 0-1, while Point Park stands at 1-0.

The first quarter was a close one as both teams traded goals, but
Dominic Robbins was able to give the Pioneers a 3-2 lead from an assist by
Ramsey Burnard with 17 seconds left in the period. Malone's goalkeeper
Andy Lopez had a great start as he managed to record five saves in the first quarter. Both teams were tied with 10 groundballs each in the first period.

The second quarter was no different as both teams competed closely to earn the lead. Burnard gave the Pioneers a 6-4 lead off a pass by
Darek Smith with 3:44 left in the half. Point Park came back to tie the game six all with 1:28, until
John Mautz III took it to the cage to give Malone a 7-6 lead with 18 seconds left.

In the third quarter, Robbins was the only goal scorer in the period for the Pioneers. Point Park took the lead 10-8 going into the fourth period. Malone could not get past Point Park's goalkeeper as he recorded six saves in the quarter.

The fourth quarter was slow for the Pioneers as Robbins would be the only goal scorer again for Malone as he found a pass from Burnard to cut Point Park's lead to 10-9. Unfortunately, Point Park managed to score another goal with 11:10 left in the period to ultimately seal the 11-9 victory over Malone. The Pioneers struggled on the clears as they 36% (4-for-11) success rate in the fourth quarter.

The goalkeeper Lopez (0-1) went 56% (14-for-25) between the pipes. Robbins led the Pioneers in scoring tonight with a hat trick, followed by
Quincy Dumarce (2), Mautz III (1), Burnard (1),
Jackson Linter (1), and Smith (1).
Ty McCort went 50% (9-for-18) at the faceoff X for Malone.

The Malone men's lacrosse team looks to regroup as they travel to Buffalo, New York to take on the D'Youville University Saints on February 25 at 4:00 P.M.
