11/03/26

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The NCCAA saw a shake-up in the second-to-last Stat Report before the NCCAA Championships. The Malone University men's cross country team is now second overall while the women's cross country team has jumped to the top of the standings.

The men's team improved their season-best team time at the Go Fast River Run to 2:04:43. MidAmerica Christian University now holds the fastest time in the NCCAA at 2:03:46 (8K). The Pioneer women just peeked out in front of the pack after the Go Fast River Run at 1:35:44 in the 5K (converted), just one second faster than the best time set by Azusa Pacific University.

Yahya Jawadi and Wyatt Royster lead a brigade of Pioneers in spots 3-6 in the NCCAA. Their times of 24:47.1 and 24:52.5 are seventh and tenth in the program's NCAA Division II era. Xander Heil (24:53.6) and Alex Hill (24:56.2) are also among the top times in the program's NCAA Division II era in 11th and 15th overall since the 2012 season.

The women had an outstanding weekend with Rachel Whetstone pacing the team at 18:30 as a converted 5K mark. Her total time of 22:27.4 is the 21st-fastest mark in the entire history of women's cross country at Malone. Brooklyn McIntyre snuck into the final spot in the top ten of the NCCAA at 19:10 and Carolyn Miller is just behind at 19:14.

The Pioneers will battle for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) title on November 7 at Tiffin University. The action begins at 10:30 A.M. and can be seen live on FloCollege.
