Women's Soccer Celebrates Seniors in Loss to Cedarville

CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University women's soccer team celebrated their five seniors on Saturday; Gracie Ashton, Abby Blaz, Camryn Emerling, Hannah Hubbard, and Brynn Mowrer. The Pioneers hosted Cedarville University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup. Malone would take the loss 4-0 to put them at a 2-4-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the G-MAC. The Yellow Jackets now hold a 6-1-1 overall record and 4-0-0 in the conference.
 
The Pioneers struggled to keep the ball in their possession throughout the game. Cedarville's first goal comes after multiple attempts with three saves from Amelia Henderhan (2-4-1). The Yellow Jackets scored in the 21st minute. To end the half Cedarville scored back-to-back goals in the 39th and 40th minute making the score at half 3-0.
 
The second half again, the Pioneers were unable to gain possession resulting in another Yellow Jacket goal in the 49th minute of the game. Mowrer attempted a shot in the 76th minute but was wide right, one of two shots in the game, the other by Claire Charnock. The final score was 4-0 in favor of Cedarville.
 
The Yellow Jackets outshot Malone 29-2 with eleven on goal compared to the Pioneers zero. Aubree Mellana played the entire 90 minutes. Elizabeth Lane came in to finish the match for Malone earning two saves. 
 
Malone will host Kentucky Wesleyan College on Thursday, October 2nd for another G-MAC matchup. Kick off will start at 5:00 P.M.
