KENOSHA, Wisc. - The Malone University cross country programs traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. The Pioneer men were 14th and women 20th at the postseason event. Grand Valley State University were the Midwest Regional Champion in both the men's and women's races.

In the 10k men's race, Malone was led by
Hayden Schmidt with a time of 31:28.5, good for 25th as an individual. That mark is a new personal best for the senior.
Xander Heil was the second Malone student-athlete to cross the finish line in 70th (32:29.0).
Wyatt Royster (77th) and
Yahya Jawadi (78th) were back-to-back finishers at 32:35.0 and 32:36.1.
Zavier Medina was the final scoring member in 101st with a time of 32:58.3. Royster, Jawadi and Medina all set new career-bests.

The Pioneer women were led by
Rebekah Stoneman in 73rd (22:53.9).
Jenna Cassidy was second to finish for Malone with a time of 23:05.4 (85th) and
Kristin Yeager was next in 89th (23:08.5).
Rachel Whetstone (111th) and
Carolyn Miller (147th) wrapped up the top five for the team with times of 23:29.0 and 24:31.9. Stoneman was the lone member of the squad to set a new personal low.
