Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

2025 Season Concludes with Loss at Walsh

CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University women's soccer team traveled up north to face their crosstown rival in the season finale on Tuesday. Walsh easily dispatched of the Pioneers as the Cavs distributed their offense equally with four different goal scorers in a 4-0 victory.

It was a back-and-forth affair until the Cavs rattled off three straight goals at the end of the first half. Goalkeepers Amelia Henderhan (5-9-3) and Elizabeth Lane tried their best to keep the Pioneers in the match, each taking a half in the goal. The pair had a total of 12 saves between them, but their efforts were in vain as the Walsh offense proved to be too much.

Brynn Mowrer led the Pioneers in total shots (5) and shot on target (2), but wasn't able to provide a goal in her 90 minutes of action. Gracie Ashton was second in shots (2) on the team. The game was delayed due to a power outage during the 37th minute of the first half; it left the field without lights for around 20 minutes.

Seniors Mowrer, Camryn Emerling, Hannah Hubbard and Abby Blaz went the distance in the match with 64 minutes provided an additional by Ashton. Aubree Mellana joined that group in full game time. The senior class played for a total of 424 minutes between the five in their final match as Pioneers.

The loss rounds out Malone's season, as they finished 5-9-3 overall and 4-8-2 in conference play. Unfortunately, with a few key losses down the stretch, the Pioneers were unable to clinch a postseason berth. Walsh finished their season ahead of Malone in the G-MAC rankings with a 5-7-1 record in conference play (6-8-3 overall), but found themselves unable to sneak in to the playoffs.
