INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Jaymes Gilbert of the Malone University volleyball team has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division Volleyball Athlete of the Week. She is the program's first conference Athlete of the Week award winner since 2022.
 
Gilbert, a junior middle hitter from Wooster, Ohio, helped guide the Pioneers to a 2-0 week. Malone secured a road victory at Ursuline College in five sets and returned home to defeat Ashland University for the first time since 2014, 3-1.
 
Gilbert contributed to the win against the Arrows with nine kills and a career-high 17 digs. She followed that up with a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs in the upset of the Eagles. She combined for seven assists, three block assists and two aces in the two matches as well.
 
Her efficiency was also on display with a .375 hitting percentage for the week with just two attack errors. Gilbert's .338 hitting percentage on the season is currently fifth in the conference and she has been inside the top five for the duration of the year thus far.
 
The Pioneers go on the road for their next two conference matches – at Walsh University on Friday, October 10 and at Lake Erie College on Saturday, October 11. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. in North Canton on Friday.
