Men's Soccer Stumbles in Owensboro

OWENSBORO, Kentucky - The Malone University Men's Soccer team traveled to Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday to take on the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers. In a tale of two halves, the Pioneers ultimately fell short as they lost via a 3-1 final.

Malone looked to start things fast and the did that as they took an early 1-0 lead. Following a Pioneer corner kick, Gavin Csiszar found Elijah Caparello-Wanless who fired home his second goal of the season just six minutes into the contest. Malone continued to dominate for the rest of the first half but failed to find the netting again. The Pioneers outshot the Panthers 10-2 and put three shots on goal to the Panthers one. Despite a couple of Panther chances, the Pioneers held a 1-0 lead as the first half horn sounded.

The second half was a different story as the Panthers made the adjustments necessary to take control. Kentucky Wesleyan answered the Pioneers quickly as they tied things at one apiece in the 50th minute. Just two minutes later, the Panthers took a 2-1 lead. The Pioneers did the best they could to scrounge back and force a draw but a last minute Panther goal secured a 3-1 Kentucky Wesleyan win.

Malone travels back home to take on the Thomas More University Saints on Wednesday, October 2nd. Opening kick is slated for 1:00 PM.
