Women's Basketball Adds Four Recruits to 2024-25 Class

CANTON, Ohio. -- The Malone University women's basketball team has added four recruits from Ohio to the 2024-25 incoming class: Alyssa Geiser, Abbey Price, Kylee Bruce and Katie Kaufman. 

"We are extremely excited about our incoming freshmen class. They all come from dominant high school programs that have won at a high level" said Head Coach Selana Ickes. "Each of them understands the value of hard work and sacrificing to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Alyssa, Abbey, Kylee, and Katie all possess the mental and physical toughness that we believe it takes to win a championship. It is going to be fun to add them to our group and get to work."


Alyssa Geiser

5'8 G, Waynedale High School

Alyssa averaged 13.1 ppg, 4 rpg, and 3 apg during her final season for the Golden Bears. She finishes her career with over 1,000 career points, holds the record for most 3's in a game (9), and led her team to back to back Final Four appearances. Other accolades include 1st Team All-Ohio, Northeast Inland and District 4 Player of the Year, as well as 1st Team All-Conference. In her four years, she has an 87% winning percentage.

Coach Ickes on Alyssa: "Alyssa led her team to the State Final Four during her freshman and sophomore seasons. We think she will be an elite shooter at the college level and are thrilled to add her to our team. She has an extremely high work ethic and pushes those around her to a higher level. We love adding local players to our team that are high character kids and we knew Alyssa would be a great Malone fit."



Abbey Price

5'9 G/F, Marysville High School

Abbey averaged 12.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.3 apg, and 1.9 spg this past season. She was a 3x 1st Team All-Conference Selection, as well as a 3x 2nd Team All-District Selection. She amassed over 1,000 career points and over 500 career rebounds. Abbey holds a positive 1.7 assist/turnover ratio, as well as an 80% winning percentage throughout her high school career. 

Coach Ickes on Abbey: "Abbey has an extremely hi-motor and toughness about her. She will add playmaking and versatility on both ends of the floor that we can't wait to utilize. Abbey is a competitor. Both sides felt like it was a great fit from the beginning and we are excited to be adding her character and skill set to our program."

Kylee Bruce

5'11 G/F, Fairland High School

Kylee averaged 11.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg during her final season for the Dragons. She has over 850 career points and 500 rebounds while leading her team to back to back Final Four Appearances. She has a 91% career winning percentage throughout her four years. Kylee was a 1st Team All-District and 3rd Team All-Ohio Selection, as well as a McDonald's All-American Nominee. She also appeared in both the Ohio-Kentucky and Ohio-WV All-Star games. 

Coach Ickes on Kylee: "Kylee comes from a program that has been to the State Final Four the past two seasons - and she is a big reason for their success. She is a high IQ player. We are excited about adding her versatility, playmaking, and leadership to our program. Teammates love playing with Kylee and our kids will feel the same. She is a great individual with high character that will help make us better in years to come."

Katie Kaufman

6'1 F, Ottawa Glandorf High School

Katie averaged 13.1 ppg and 6.3 rpg during her senior season. She has an 84% winning percentage over the course of her career, alongside over 900 career points and over 500 rebounds. Katie was a 2x 1st Team All-Conference, 2x 1st Team Northwestern Ohio and 1st Team All-Ohio Selection while leading her team to two State Runner-Up games in Division III.

Coach Ickes on Katie: "Katie also comes from a highly successful high school program. She has played an integral part in leading the Ottawa Glandorf Titans to State during her freshman and senior year. Katie brings length, a high IQ, and great feel for the game - all traits that it takes to compete at a high level in our league. We know she will be a great character fit both on and off the floor for our team and look for her to have a great career at Malone."
