Canton, OH -- On Saturday afternoon the Malone University Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Davis & Elkins College Senators.
The Pioneers set numerous records en route to a 26-9 victory.

THE GAME
The Pioneers looked to continue their hot stretch as they came into the contest on a 4-game winning streak. The Senators struck first as Owen Taylor scored his first of six goals.
Luke Ory answered back with his 25th goal of the season. While the game remained tied with a little over five minutes left in the quarter, the Pioneers quickly caught fire.
Kenny Kaiser rattled one home and
Eion Juhas followed with his first goal of the season.
John Mautz III and
Eli Ciotti ripped a pair to bring the lead to 5-1. Davis & Elkins scored again with mere seconds left but
Talon Heath answered right back with his first point of the game, foreshadowing what was to come.
Heath opened the second quarter with another and then Ory and Ciotti scored Malone's second and third goal within the first minute of the quarter.
Zac Smargiasso fired home his 23rd of the season to bring Malone to ten goals. The Senators answered back as Taylor scored his third of the contest. Mautz III and
Nolan Winter took the Pioneers to thirteen goals with just a couple of minutes left. Kaiser and Heath each ripped twine twice and Ory scored once again to leave the Pioneers up 17-3 at the half. The Pioneers out shot the Senators 36-11 in the first half, forced 13 turnovers, scooped up 33 ground balls to the Senators 9, and dominated on face-offs winning 17 of 22.
Heath opened up the second half with two more quick goals. The Senators then traded a pair of goals with Kaiser and Ory as the game was brought to 21-5. Smargiasso and Heath each scored once more as Malone led 23-6 after three quarters.
Taylor opened the fourth quarter for the Senators with two more goals but Winter countered with his second of the game. Following another Ciotti goal, Heath assisted
Ramsey Burnard with 1:24 left in the game. That assist left Heath with a school record 15 points. Those 15 points tied Heath for the 5th most points in a single game in NCAA history. The Pioneers won by scoring a program record 26 goals to the Senators 9.
DETAILS
- Talon Heath scored 7 goals and had 8 assists en route to his historic day. Luke Ory (4 goals and 3 assists) and Zac Smargiasso (2 goals and 5 assists) each had 7 points. Kenny Kaiser followed suit with 4 goals and a pair of assists to end with 6 points himself. The Pioneers finished with 48 offensive points as they assisted on 22 of their 26 goals.
- Wayne Keating forced a program record 6 turnovers while Ory forced 4.
- Kamden Kraft won 22-32 face-offs while collecting 13 ground balls.
- Malone set team program records in Points (48), Goals (26), Assists (22), Ground Balls (56), Caused Turnovers (17), and tied the program record in Shots on Goal (41)

Malone will be back at home next Wednesday, April 3rd at 6:00 P.M. as they host their cross-town rival, the Walsh University Cavaliers.
