Canton, OH-- The Malone University Women's Lacrosse team welcomed the Lake Erie College Storm to Pioneer Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers fought hard but ultimately dropped their conference opener via a final score of 16-3 in favor of the Storm.

THE GAME
The Pioneers looked to bounce back following a heartbreaking defeat earlier in the week. The Storm set the tone early as they controlled the entire first quarter, taking a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes.
Abbey Burns opened the second with her 18th goal of the season. Lake Erie battled back with two goals of their own to stretch their lead to four. Burns split the defense and drew a Storm foul to set up a free position shot. Burns beat the keeper and cut the deficit to three. The Storm battled back with a slew of goals and closed out the half by beating the buzzer and taking a 9-2 lead.
Lake Erie opened the second half with six straight goals to take a 15-2 lead.
Olivia Marcantonio forced the Storms had as she barreled towards the net and drew a foul. She sunk the ensuing free position shot to bring the Pioneers up to three goals. The Storm scored once more in the fourth quarter to finish the game ahead, 16-3.

The Lady Pioneers head back on the road as they travel to Edinboro, Pennsylvania to take on Edinboro University. Opening draw is slated for 4:00 P.M.
