Box Score Canton, OH-- On Saturday,
the Malone University men's basketball team (10-12,3-11 G-MAC) hosted visiting Kentucky Wesleyan (15-6,9-4 G-MAC). Malone found themselves trailing for the majority of the game but mounted a late surge, putting pressure on the Panthers. Despite their efforts, Kentucky Wesleyan managed to maintain their lead and ultimately secure the victory with a final score of 75-68.
Malone initiated the game on a high note, with
Simon Blair demonstrating his skill by effortlessly maneuvering through the defense. Blair executed a flawless pass to Fraser Laroque, who capitalized on the opportunity and successfully scored. Moments later,
Jaelyn Etheridge connected on a three to put the Pioneers up two. Malone maintained the lead until the 8:54 mark, at which point Kentucky Wesleyan surged ahead, seizing their first lead of the game. From that point on, the Panthers never looked back and took 42-32 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Kentucky Wesleyan maintained their composure despite Malone's resurgence.
Simon Blair continued to exhibit his scoring ability, adding to his team-high point total, while
Fraser LaRocque and
Caleb Conard did their part on the boards.
Aaron Badibo also played a big part to the Pioneers success with his ability to shoot the three ball. With 4:06 left in the game, Jake Burns nailed a corner three to cut the Panther lead to just five.
Carter Piatt then connected on a layup to further more close the gap at three points.
After a timeout by Head Coach Drew Cooper, the Panthers responded in a big way and were able to close out the game by a final score of 75-68.

What's Next
Malone will be back in action this Thursday (Feb. 8) at home vs Ohio Dominican. The Game is slated to start at 7:30 PM.
