MIDLAND, Mich. – The Malone University women's soccer team traveled to Northwood University on Saturday to play one of two Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship Quarterfinal matches. The Pioneers lost by a score of 3-0 ending their season with an overall record of 9-8-1. The Timberwolves advance to the G-MAC Championship Semifinals with an overall record of 12-2-5.
Neither team was able to put the ball in goal in the first half, leaving the score 0-0 at the end of the half. Malone's
Morgan Ross was able to get three shots in the period, two of them on-goal.
Northwood scored the first goal of the game in the 53th minute off a penalty kick. Quickly after, the Timberwolves scored their second goal in the 54th minute. To make the final score 3-0, Northwood scored their final goal in the 78th minute.
Reagan McCourt and
Madison Woodward each played the entire 90 minutes.
Ameila Henderhan (8-8-1) was able to secure six saves compared to the Timberwolves three. Northwood outshot Malone 15-7 in total, including a 9-3 difference in shots on-goal.
The Pioneers conclude the year with the best winning percentage in a season (.528) since the 2009. A sixth-place finish in the league ties them for the best result in the G-MAC standings as a program.
