Volleyball Seniors Honored in Loss to Panthers

CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University volleyball team celebrated the class of 2025 seniors on the roster prior to a 3-0 loss at the hands of Ohio Dominican University on Saturday afternoon. Malone falls to 5-22 overall and 2-12 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) while Ohio Dominican moves to 11-14 and 6-6 in league play.

Seniors Macy McCauley, Alyssa Jacob, Gabby Pelfrey and Grace Rosko were honored before first serve and once the match began, it was McCauley who dug out her 2,000th career opposing attack. She would finish the day with a team-high 17 digs for the team. She would also serve up three aces for the squad.  Sophomore Brianne Salinas led the offense with six kills.

Set one was all Panthers in a 25-15 loss for the Pioneers. Malone was held to a negative hitting percentage, but made their impact known on blocks with five in the period.

A tumultuous start doomed the Pioneers from the start as Ohio Dominican scored the first eight points and held an 11-1 advantage. The deficit was too much to overcome in a 25-14 loss.

Junior Mallory Meinen helped give Malone a 3-0 lead in the third set with her service ace. Freshman Emma Weirich would extend the lead to 5-1 a few moments later. Offense from sophomore Laiken Wallick helped keep the Pioneers within a few points, but towards the end of the set, the Panthers would pull away to the 25-20 win to clinch the match.

In the final week of the regular season, Malone will face Northwood University inside Osborne Hall on Friday, November 15 beginning at 7:00 P.M.
