Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Malone Sports Information - Michael Ginocchi

Malone Drops Second Straight Falling on the Road to Trevecca Nazarene

Nashville, TN-- Malone men's basketball (8-6,1-5 G-MAC) stayed on the road to battle with Trevecca Nazarene in a key G-MAC contest (10-4,5-0 G-MAC) down in the music city.  The Trojans were red hot coming into the game and they continued their success of staying undefeated within the conference. They outlasted Malone by a final score of 66-51.

Malone was able to get off to a fast start and after a bucket from Fraser LaRocque the Pioneers led early 10-5. Then moments a Tahleik Walker layup and Simon Blair three extended the lead at 15-8. Things were looking good for the Pioneers, but that's when Trevecca anchored down and went on a 14-0 run to help give them the lead. It was a good first half from beyond the arch as the Trojans knocked down 7 out of 12 three pointers, while Malone shot a poor 2-14 from three. The Shooting struggles were evident for Malone shooting 28 percent from the field. At the half, Trevecca led 30-20.

Coming out of halftime, the visiting Pioneers came out focused and ready to go. After back to back baskets from Walker and Badibo the lead was cut down to just 5 points. Unfortunately, the fast start could not be sustained. The poor shooting struggles continued, while Trojans remained hot eventually taking a 19 point second half lead. Trevecca saw their lead expand to 21 points making it an uphill climb for Malone. The lead was just too much to overcome as the Pioneers fell 66-51.
