FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Malone University men's lacrosse team put their three-game winning streak on the line Wednesday afternoon as the Pioneers traveled to Frostburg State University for a non-conference game.
The host Bobcats came into the contest ranked as one of the top teams in several national polls, including being ranked No. 15 in the most recent USILA / Dynamic Division II Coaches Poll.
Frostburg built up a lead early on in the game, and never looked back on their way to a 24-8 win.

THE GAME
The two sides traded unassisted goals early on in the first quarter with
Zac Smargiasso matching a FSU goal to tie the game at 1-1 near the 10 minute mark of the quarter.
Frostburg scored the next eight goals of the game unanswered before
Talon Heath made it 9-2 with 3:41 still to play in the first.
The Bobcats went on to build a 12-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, and a 17-5 advantage by halftime.
FSU then outscored the Pioneers 5-0 in the third quarter.
Malone took the final quarter by a score of 3-2, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.
Frostburg State came away with the 24-8 win.
