Malone Drops Road Game at Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky. -- The Malone University men's basketball team was on the road Saturday afternoon for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) showdown with the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers.

The Pioneers fell behind 45-38 by halftime, and were unable to complete a second-half comeback.

THE ESSENTIALS
  • Final Score: Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers 94 - Malone University Pioneers 87
  • Records: Kentucky Wesleyan (14-12, 10-8 G-MAC) | Malone (14-10, 9-9 G-MAC)
  • Location: Owensboro, Kentucky | Owensboro Sportscenter
THE GAME
The Pioneers struggled to shut down the Panthers offense in the first half. Kentucky Wesleyan shot nearly 53% from the field en route to building up a seven-point halftime lead.

KWC scored the opening points of the afternoon, and actually did not trail the entire game.

The Panthers pushed their advantage out to as many as 15 points in the second-half.

Down 80-65 with just over four minutes remaining in the game the Pioneers made a late run.

Bo Myers quieted a KWC scoring run with a three-pointer. Two possessions later he connected from long distance again to make it an 82-73 game with just over three minutes left to play.

Down the stretch Malone continued to trade Kentucky Wesleyan free throws for three-pointers on the other end.

A triple from Justin Miller brought Malone to within just three points with 35 seconds left on the clock.

Unfortunately the Panthers were able to close out the 94-87 win from the free throw line.

DETAILS
  • Bo Myers led Malone with 26 points. He was 10-15 from the field and 5-8 from beyond the three-point line.
  • Justin Miller added 22 points and 8 assists.
  • Levi Seiler finished with 19 points and a team-high 9 rebounds.
