Box Score Canton, OH-- The Malone University men's basketball team tipped off its first home game of the season against Wayne State University.
After a back and fourth first half, The Pioneers surged late to pull away and get a big 74-66 win.

The Game
The first half of the game saw Wayne St. and Malone engaged in a close battle. Wayne St. managed to secure a 35-38 lead at halftime, displaying a strong shooting performance with a 57% field goal percentage. Matt Coffey led Wayne St. with an impressive 19 points, showcasing his offensive skill set.
Both teams were solid offensively in the first half. The Pioneers managed to shoot 56% from the field and 42% from three. One again, Coach Wallrapp wanted more out of his team and they responded big time in the second half.
The second half unfolded with Malone ramping up the intensity. Wayne St. faced challenges, particularly in shooting percentages, finishing the game with a 46% field goal rate. Even though the Pioneers didn't shoot well from the field themselves, their aggressive efforts forced Wayne St. into some turnovers.
After a made shot for the Warriors to give them a narrow 47-46 lead,
Simon Blair nailed back to back jumpers to give the Pioneers a 50-47 lead. From that point on they never looked back and secured the 74-66 victory.

- For the second straight game Simon Blair led all scorers with 23 points
- Tre Baumgardner III added to the scoring with 18 points and 5 assists
- Aaron Badibo was great with a double double scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds
- Malone forced 7 steals as a team
