Canton, OH-- The Malone University women's soccer team took the field at home on Tuesday evening for the 20223 season finale.
The Pioneers entertained crosstown rival Walsh University.
The Pioneers made it a game when they scored to make it 2-1, but Walsh scored another to add insurance and win 3-1.

THE MATCH
The first goal of the match was netted by Walsh's Kailey Hobart in the 38th minute. This put the Cavaliers up 1-0.
In the 52nd minute, Walsh added to the lead, making it 2-0 in favor of the visiting team.
Malone didn't give up, and in the 71st minute, Gracie Ashton found the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-1. Leah Rufener provided the crucial assist for Ashton's goal, injecting a spark of hope for Malone.
The Pioneers needed this goal as they struggled to put up shots. Malone felt like they had a chance to turn the momentum of the game.
However, Walsh responded Walsh with by finding the back of the net in the 75th minute, sealing the final score at 3-1 in favor of the rival Cavaliers.

Freshman Gracie Ashton added her 6th goal of the season. She led the team in goals.
Leah Rufener added her first assist of the season
