HAMMOND, Ind. — The Malone University volleyball team (3-18, 1-8 G-MAC) fell to McKendree University (10-9, 0-5 GLVC) by three sets to none on Saturday, October 14 to close out its final match in the 2023 Midwest Region Crossover event.
After losing to William Jewell and Lake Superior State in the first two matches of the tournament, Malone hoped to right the ship on the final day of play. However, the Pioneers fell 25-15 in the first set, 26-24 in the second set, and 25-17 in the final set.
Inside the Box Score
Gabi Smith led the Pioneers with 11 kills. She added two digs.
Brianne Salinas had seven kills and two digs.
Gabby Pelfrey was the main provider for Malone as she had 11 assists and had four digs.
Mallory Meinen had a solid outing with eight assists and eight digs.
Defensively,
Macy McCauley led the team with 26 digs.
What's Next
The Pioneers are back on the road next Friday evening, October 20 as they travel to Cedarville University for a 7:00 p.m. clash with the Yellow Jackets.
