HILLSDALE, Mich. – On Saturday afternoon, the Malone University women's basketball team traveled north to Michigan to face off against the Hillsdale College Chargers for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match up.
The game was back-and-forth for the majority of the time as neither team was able to get more than a double-digit lead, until the Pioneers got their final 72-60 victory with a late fourth quarter run.
The Pioneers are now on a five-game win streak, the program's longest winning streak since the 2019-2020 season.

THE GAME
Hillsdale opened the game with a three-pointer, but Brooklyn Troyer immediately followed it up with a layup to put Malone on the board.
Hillsdale got their largest lead of the game at the 4:06 mark in the first quarter with a seven-point advantage.
However, Brinn Hunt and Alexis Hutchison quickly got to work and brought the Pioneers within a possession.
The two teams continued to trade baskets until a Emma Kallas got a layup to end the first quarter, and tie up the score at 15.
Hutchison scored the first four points of the second quarter. Malone and Hillsdale continued to make it a back-and-forth situation.
After the first half, the Chargers took a one-point, 30-29 lead to the locker room.
Hutchison and Troyer worked together coming out of the break to take the Pioneers on a seven-point run to open the quarter.
The third quarter looked very similar to the previous two with both teams finding the basket.
Brooklyn Troyer turned the scoreboard back to the visitors with a buzzer beating three-pointer to put Malone up 50-48 heading into the final frame.
Troyer also opened up the final quarter with a good shot from inside the arc. For the next five minutes, the Pioneers and Chargers played the same type of game, going back and forth.
A layup from Erin Kaufman gave Malone the lead, a lead that they would hold for the final four minutes of the game.
Hillsdale's final score came off a layup with 1:36 remaining.
From there Hutchison was the only scorer as she scored eight points to finish the game and secure the win. The last six of Hutchison's points were from the charity stripe.
The win pushes the Pioneers to a five-game win streak, the largest since the 2019-2020 season when Malone had five in a row, the final win being against Hillsdale on January 25, 2020.
THE DETAILS
- The Pioneers were once again led by Alexis Hutchison. She had 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals. She went a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line.
- Brooklyn Troyer added 16 points. Erin Kaufman had 12 points and 4 assists. Emma Kallas was a defensive game as she had six defensive rebounds and a block.
- Malone had 10 second chance points and 34 points in the paint.
WHAT'S NEXT
Malone will face crosstown rival next Thursday as they host the Walsh University Cavaliers in the 27th Annual Mayors' Cup. The January 12th tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from Osborne Hall.
