NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Thursday night, Malone's men's soccer team traveled across town to face off against their rival Walsh University.
The Cavaliers entered the contest ranked a the No. 21 team in the most recent United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Top-25 Poll.
In an exciting and emotional matchup,
Anthony Birus and
Colton Fry had their way with the Cavalier defense.
Malone was able to hang on to get their first G-MAC win against their No. 21 ranked rival with the final score being 2-0.

THE MATCH
Anthony Birus added to his already exciting week by setting the tone early and finding the back of the Cavalier net for a solo goal within the first 10 minutes of the game.
Colton Fry followed suit bagging a goal himself, assisted by the freshman
Christian Piccolotto in the 34th minute of the first half to put the 21st team in the country on their heels.
Walsh couldn't do anything against the Pioneer defense and, with the help of
Gavyn Ernst's five saves, pitched a shutout to one of the nation's top ranked teams.
Malone shocked the hometown favorite for the second time in two years with the final score being 2-0 in favor of Malone.

DETAILS
Anthony Birus has shot up to be one of Malone's top scorers of the season after this week to be in a four way tie for first place.
Colton Fry also joins Birus in the four way tie after his goal late in the first half.
Gavyn Ernst played all 90 minutes in goal for Malone, and came away with five total saves to ensure the shutout

Malone will host Ashland University next Tuesday for a 5:00 p.m. match.
