PALM COAST, Fla. -- With a final round team score of 297 on Wednesday, the Malone University men's golf team put the finishing touches on the program's record-breaking fifth National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championship.
The Pioneers won prior team titles in: 1999, 2000, 2004, and 2008.
Additionally, head coach
Ken Hyland was named the NCCAA Coach of the Year for a fifth time in his career.
The Pioneers also had three players earn All-American honors by virtue of their top-10 overall finishes.
Connor Curry (t1st),
Brock White (7th), and
Matt Nimsuwan (t8th) were all named NCCAA All-Americans.
HIGHLIGHTS
This year's event was held at Hammock Beach Resort's par 72 Conservatory Course, and Malone led the event wire to wire.
The Pioneers opened up play on Monday with a team total of 302. While MU was paced by a pair of 74 (+2) rounds from
Connor Curry and
Brock White, the entire team shot 79 or better on day one.
After improving their team total by six strokes to finish with a 296, Malone remained atop the leaderboard on Tuesday. Day two saw every Pioneer player fire a round of 75 or better to allow MU to go into the tournament's final day with a twelve stroke lead.
The final result was rarely in question over Wednesday's final round. Led by a -2 effort of 70 from Curry, Malone shot a 297 to win the tournament by a whopping 28 strokes over second-place Cedarville University.
The Pioneers ended the tournament with a 54-hole team score of 895 (+31).

WHAT'S NEXT?
This tournament concludes the fall portion of Malone's schedule. The Pioneers will pick the season back up in March of 2023.
