PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Malone University women's soccer team hit the road on Saturday for the final time in the 2022 season. The Pioneers traveled to Lake Erie College for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup with the Storm.
After LEC scored in the first half, MU countered with a goal of their own late in the game to secure another point in the G-MAC standings with the 1-1 draw.

THE MATCH
Despite the Pioneers dominating both the possession and the scoring chances in the first half, it was Lake Erie who got on the scoreboard first.
LEC earned a penalty kick chance in the 32nd minute, and converted on the opportunity for the game's first goal.
Malone continued to dominate in the second-half, but it was not until the 71st minute that the Pioneers found the equalizer.
Anna Schmeltzer scored her first goal of the season on an assist by
Brynn Mowrer to tie the game at 1-1.
That 1-1 score held for the remainder of the contest, and the match ended in a draw.

Malone outshot Lake Erie 17-6. 10 of the Pioneer opportunities were put on frame.
The assist by Mowrer moves her into a tie with both
Teegan Graff and
Morgan Ross for the team lead with two this season.
WHAT'S NEXT
Malone will close out the 2022 season at home on Tuesday afternoon when they take on crosstown rival Walsh University at 4:30 p.m.
