CANTON, Ohio -- On Saturday, the Malone University men's soccer team returned to Pioneer Park for the second time this week. This time for a non-conference match against the Wildcats of Daemen College. 

The Wildcats (1-1) scored a pair of first-half goals, and were able to withstand a late comeback attempt from the Pioneers (0-2) to escape with a 2-1 win. 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Malone easily controlled possession in the early portions of the first half. The Pioneers put together several scoring opportunities, but struggled to capitalize. 

On the other hand, Daemen was able to use an effective counter attack on two separate occasions which led to goals in both the 24th and 28th minute. 

Their 2-0 advantage held at the halftime break. 

Just under the midway point of the second half the Pioneers broke through. Antoine Leheron sent a cross into the box from the right sideline, and freshman Gavin Csiszar was there on the far post to head the ball home for Malone's first goal. 

The score shifted momentum in favor of the Pioneers, but Daemen's defense was able to hang on down the stretch for the 2-1 win.

• Malone was outshot by Daemen 14-12, but the Pioneers led the way with five shots on goal to just four for the Wildcats
• Gavin Csiszar's goal in the 72nd minute will go down as the first regular season score at Malone's new Pioneer Park facility. 

WHAT'S NEXT?
Malone heads out on the road next week for two consecutive matches away from Pioneer Park. First is a trip to Saginaw Valley State University. Tuesday's kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
