BEAVERCREEK, Ohio -- The Malone University men's golf team competed in the Cedarville Medal Match Play event on Monday and Tuesday.
The medal match format featured teams competing head-to-head in match play, but each match was scored by the cumulative number of strokes won by rather than the number of holes won. I.e. "up three" would indicate that the player is up three strokes, not three holes. The player leading by the most strokes after 18-holes won the match.Â
The Pioneers picked up one win, a 3-2 result over the host Yellow Jackets on Monday, and finished the event tied for fifth-place in the eight team field. In their other matches Malone was defeated by Mount Vernon Nazarene 3-2Â and Lake Erie College 4-1.
The event was won by the No. 7 seed Mount Vernon Nazarene University.Â
There were no team cumulative scores kept, however on the individual leaderboard
Connor Curry scored a fourth-place finish with his 56-hole score of +3 (219).Â
