NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Thursday evening, the Malone University men's soccer team faced off against Trevecca Nazarene University for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup.
The Trojans (3-1-0) took a commanding first half lead and kept the momentum despite a last minute Pioneer (0-7-0) rally.
Trevecca built a strong 2-0 lead by halftime, and then added two more goals in the second half before holding off Malone's comeback.
The Pioneer offense found their rhythmn late in the match when
Brennan Blaising and
Antoine Leheron connected for a goal.
Unfortunately, that was the only score Malone had, as the Trojans held on for the 4-1 win.
PIONEER POINTS
- Malone was out-shot by TNU 18-9, 7-4 on target, but the Pioneers were able to pressure the Trojans defense. Malone held a 7-4 advantage on corner kicks.
- The goal by Antoine Leheron was his first goal of the season. It was also Blaising's first assist.
- Malone and Trevecca both came away with three saves a piece.
