BUFFALO, New York -- On Saturday afternoon the Malone University women's soccer team closed out their non-conference trip through the state of New York with a match at D'Youville College.
The host Saints (1-2-0) got a goal midway through the second half that proved to be the lone difference in the 1-0 loss by the Pioneers (0-2-1).
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Despite Malone dominating possession early, and having overwhelmingly more chances at goal, the match was tied 0-0 at half.
The Pioneers outshot the Saints 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes. Five of Malone's opportunities were on target, but all of those were saved.
Less than twenty minutes into the second half, D'Youville broke through with a goal in the 65th minute.
Malone got two more shots off of the foot of
Madeleine Ault in the waning minutes of the contest, but could not convert.
The Saints held on to secure their first win of the season.

- Malone outshot D'Youville by a 16-6 mark. 7 of the Pioneer shots were on goal compared to just three from the Saints. The 16 shots, and 7 on goal, are both season-highs for Malone.

Malone opens Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Thursday with a trip to Ursuline College. Kick off is set for 3:30 p.m.
