CANTON, Ohio -- On Saturday afternoon the Malone University women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day as they welcomed the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers to town for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference showdown.
After playing the full 90 minutes of regulation as well as two extra 10 minute periods, the Pioneers (3-2-1, 2-2-1) and Panthers (1-1-1, 1-1-1) ended tied in a 1-1 draw.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Kentucky Wesleyan had the first good look at goal 15 minutes into the first half, but the Panther's shot was turned away by
Jessica Morgan.
Later in the half Malone started to build their offensive attack, but
Keeley Malley's strike was saved. Ten minutes later
Brooke Lindenschmidt had an opportunity put on frame, but again the KWC keeper was there for the save.
After the first 45 minutes of play the match was tied at 0-0.
The Panthers broke through for the first goal of the game in the 57th minute.
The Pioneers answered right back however.
Madeline Ault found the back of the net in the 60th minute for her third goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.
Malone's offense statistically dominated Kentucky Wesleyan the rest of the half. The Pioneers outshot the Panthers 17-3 in the second half. Unfortunately they could not get a goal, and the match headed for overtime.
Neither team had a shot on goal in the first ten extra minutes. In the second overtime period Malone had one good look, but it was saved.
When the final whistle sounded, after a full 110 minutes of play, the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
