INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Thursday afternoon the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced their 2020-21 Volleyball Season Awards. A pair of Pioneer standouts were among those honored on the All-Conference teams.
Sophomore outside hitter
Anna Mallette and senior middle blocker
Brooklyn Sullivan were both named All-G-MAC Third Team.
Mallette, a local product from North Canton and Jackson High School finished the regular season ranked third in the conference at 3.67 kills per set. She had a total of 132 kills this year, and had double-digit kills totals in all but one match this season.
Although the Pioneers barely missed out on qualifying for the postseason, Mallette was playing some of her best volleyball down the stretch. During the final week of the regular season she put down a career-high 20 kills at Lake Erie, and followed that up with a 19 kill performance at Ursuline.
She routinely played through the entire Malone rotation coming up with 113 digs and 10 total blocks defensively.
Sullivan, a native of Wheelersburg, Ohio and South Webster High School capped of her four-year Pioneer career with another stellar campaign.
She ended the season second on the team with 64 kills, and led Malone on the defensive side of the net with 18 total blocks.
Much like her teammate, Sullivan was playing some of her best volleyball near the end of the season. She had 16 kills and 5 total blocks in the final week of the regular season at Lake Erie and Ursuline.
