CANTON -- The Malone University women's basketball team will open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference competition on Saturday afternoon when the Pioneers travel to Lake Erie College.
Malone will look to improve their record to 5-1 after getting a victory over Clarion University last Wednesday afternoon.

- Lake Erie enters play with a 1-5 record overall this season after a 70-51 loss to Walsh University on Thursday. The lone win for the Storm this year came on November 18, a 67-52 win over Roberts Wesleyan College.
- Lake Erie, who finished 3-18 last season, is led by second-year head coach Mackenzie Perttu. During Perttu's first season with the Storm during the 2019-20 season, Lake Erie earned a spot in the G-MAC tournament.
- Junior guard Sydney Wyngarden leads the Storm in scoring with 11 points per game, three steals per game, and three assists per game.
- Breanna Bauer (10.5) is another important player for Lake Erie that averages double-digit point totals this season. So far this year, Bauer is fourth in the G-MAC in blocks with one block per game
