CANTON -- On Saturday, the Malone University women's basketball team wraps up a weekend of Great Midwest Athletic Conference play at home. 

Malone is looking for their fourth win in a row when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the tenth meeting all-time between these two programs. Kentucky Wesleyan, who has won the last three matchups in a row, holds a 6-3 advantage in the overall series. 

The last win for Malone came in February of 2019. A 75-72 win inside Osborne Hall.

  • The Pioneers pulled out a 75-72 win over Trevecca Nazarene University on Thursday to improve to 6-1 on the season, and 2-0 in G-MAC play. Robin Campbell, who led Malone with 19 points, hit a three-pointer inside of the final five seconds to help left the Pioneers to the win. 
  • Holly Groff, who scored 18 points in Thursday's win, enters play on Saturday as the eighth leading scorer in the conference. She is averaging 16.7 points per game.
  • Robin Campbell is second in the G-MAC averaging 4.3 assists per game. She also ranks fourth in the league with a 59.7% field goal percentage. 
  • Alexis Hutchison was on triple-double watch Thursday night after finishing with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE

  • The Panthers enter play with a 6-3 overall record, and off of a 69-66 win at Walsh University on Thursday. The game was back-and-forth all night long, but KWC outscored Walsh by three points in the final quarter to score the win. 
  • Tahlia Walton leads KWC in scoring at 17.9 points per game. That ranks her fourth overall in the conference. 
  • Cali Nolot is the only other Panther player averaging double-digit points. She scores 13.4 points per game. 
  • Kentucky Wesleyan, who was picked to finish third in the conference in the preseason coaches poll, is under the direction of co-head coaches Caleb and Nicole Nieman. Last year the Panthers finished 18-6 overall, and advanced to the opening round of the NCAA Division II Tournament. 

UP NEXT
The Pioneers have one more game at home before the Christmas holiday break. Malone will host crosstown rival Walsh University on Tuesday, December 14. Tip-off from Osborne Hall is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
