EVANSVILLE, Indiana -- The Malone University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Evansville, Indiana Saturday to compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet. The men finished 17th among the field of 30 teams with 504 points, while the women finished ninth with 282.
Malone Men's Results
Senior Lucas Clark earned the top spot among the Pioneer men, finishing 61st overall at 32:17.4. Max Gucker checked in at 33:16.9 as the second-fastest Malone runner.
Junior Steven Hennis, redshirt senior Christopher Cannon and freshman Chase Balko were the other top five runners for Malone. Hennis and Cannon finished in 107th (33:20.0) and 112th (33:26.8), with Balko finishing 120th with a time of 33:42.0.
Malone Women's Results
In the women's 6K race, redshirt senior Mackenna Curtis-Collins finished first for the Pioneers. The Mansfield, Ohio, native clocked in at 21:15.3 to take 12th overall, giving her a chance to compete at nationals. Senior Leah Metzger finished 37th with a time of 21:50.8.
Other runners that rounded out the score for Malone were junior Sabrina McClain, freshman Rylee Yocum and freshman Ariana Manos. McClain crossed the finish line in 71st (22:33.9), with Yocum taking 80th (22:43.9) and Manos 82nd (22:52.9).
What's Next?
On Monday, November 8, the at large bids will be announced if Mackenna Curtis-Collins will qualify to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships at St. Leo, Florida on Saturday, November 20.
