CANTON, Ohio -- The Malone University women's basketball team heads back out on the road this afternoon for a matchup with the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers.

This afternoon will be just the eighth meeting all-time between these two programs. Kentucky Wesleyan holds a slight lead in the overall series 4-3.
These two teams last played in January of 2020 with the Panthers picking up an 81-65 win inside Osborne Hall.
The last win for the Pioneers came in February of 2019, a 75-72 win also played inside Osborne Hall.

- Malone got their second win of the season in a big way on New Years Eve as the Pioneers dominated the Storm of Lake Erie College en-route to a 112-62 victory.

It was a record-breaking afternoon for the Pioneers. The 40 points scored in the third quarter are the most points in a quarter in program history and the 62 points scored in the second-half are tied for the most in program history.

As a team Malone dished out 31 assists, and Holly Groff lead the way with seven. Those 31 assists are tied for the second-most in a game in program history.

Sophomore guard Nikki Weber finished with 11 points on a perfect 4-4 shooting from the field.

13 different players played in the win, and all 13 of them found their way into the scoring column.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
The Panthers enter this afternoon's matchup off a huge 75-65 upset win over Walsh University on Saturday. Kentucky Wesleyan held off a late comeback attempt to hand the Cavaliers their second consecutive oss of the season.
Kentucky Wesleyan's offense is fourth best in the G-MAC averaging 77.3 points per game. They are led by senior guard Kaylee Clifford who is tenth-best in the league putting up 15.3 points per outing.
Clifford is also a threat on the defensive end of the floor, making two blocks per game. As a team, KWC is also middle of the pack in the league allowing 74 points per game.

Next up for the Pioneers is a trip to the University of Findlay. Malone will take on the Oilers on Friday with tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m.
